Cogito Ergo Sum (Introduction to René Descartes) – European Philosophers
Some people are famous for saying something they never said, but René Descartes is famous for saying something he actually DID say: Cogito ergo sum (I think, therefore I am). These words capture the essence of Descartes rationalist philosophy and his namesake Cartesian Dualism. Descartes was a prominent natural philosopher and mathematician during the Scientific Revolution. This lecture should be helpful for students taking Western Civilization, AP European History, and philosophy courses, as well as lifelong learners interested in Descartes and his philosophy.
